Biography

Kyle Barrowman received his PhD from Cardiff University, his MA from the University of Chicago, and his BA from 糖心Vlog. His research interests include film studies (particularly authorship, genre theory, and aesthetics), philosophy (particularly the writings of Ludwig Wittgenstein, J.L. Austin, and Stanley Cavell), and martial arts (particularly the genre of martial arts cinema and the sport of MMA). He has published widely on subjects in and between film studies and philosophy, and his work has appeared/will appear in the journals Offscreen, Senses of Cinema, JOMEC Journal, Martial Arts Studies, Global Media and China,听The International Journal of 沤i啪ek Studies, The Journal of Ayn Rand Studies, Film and Philosophy, Film-Philosophy, 惭颈蝉别-别苍-蝉肠猫苍别, Movie,听Asian Cinema, and New Review of Film and Television Studies, as well as in the edited collections A Companion to the Action Film (Wiley-Blackwell),听ReFocus: The Films of William Wyler聽(Edinburgh University Press), and The Cinema of Stephen Chow (Bloomsbury). He is currently editing two collections, Fighting Stars: Stardom and Reception in Hong Kong Martial Arts Cinema (Bloomsbury) and ReFocus: The Films of Kon Ichikawa (Edinburgh University Press).
